I'm loving styling my new locks!  Last night, I spritzed my hair with lavender water and set it on curlers...

Did I say I love stylin my locks!!!  I can hardly wait for them to mature and grow.  I'm so excited about this journey! 

Intermission 3: Janelle Monae - Say You'll Go

Curing Dandruff

After doing a search online, and refusing to pay more than $20 for anti-dandruff shampoo, I found a homeopathic approach to curing dandruff: Lemon Juice!!  Just apply the juice to your scalp and let it dry and set for at least 8 hours.  Rinse and wash the scalp, then you're done :)


I tried it two days before getting my locks installed and it worked!!  The itch is gone and I've washed away the flakes.  I know this is an icky topic, but it's real - especially for those of us on a lock journey, since oils are not encouraged during the first 6 months.

Just The Start

The journey has begun!! I'm so excited with how my locks look!  I did a trial run the last couple of months; so I know it's not going to take long for my twists to lock up.  I give it 4 months - I have a really tight curl pattern.  Here are some pics!

I had my mom do it, so I didn't pay one red cent!  And as you can see... IT LOOKS AWESOME!  I went with the two-strand twist approach and I'm thrilled with the results!

The Next Best Thing

Yesterday, while I was riding the bus, I met a guy that just started his locks and he had the best grid I have seen.  I got the number of the lady who did it and she said she would twist my hair for $25!  It's not Sisterlocks, but I'd be a fool to pass up such a good deal... I'll be saving SO MUCH money!  It's the next best thing.
